Unique Customer Problem

  • A customer approached AJB requiring the capability to integrate a Legacy Point of Sale (POS) on the 4690 IBM environment
  • Simultaneously the customer required the flexibility to migrate onto a Windows POS over a 24 to 48 month time frame while retaining all current functionality and supporting both Windows and 4690 platforms
  • To solve this problem the customer needed a solution to be delivered successfully fulfilling each specific customer requirement

AJB’s Solution

  • AJB implemented the Flexible Integrated Payment System (FiPay) store component, which is the ultimate store level communication application connecting the merchants PIN pad devices, POS system,Retail Transaction Switch (RTS) network, and financial institutions
  • AJB migrated the Windows version of the FiPay store component to run on the 4690 IBM environment retaining all product features such as dial backup and local ASYNC connections
  • AJB implemented multiple RTS’ providing this merchant the capability to permit different sources of data to be processed independent of an originating operating system
  • AJB also implemented the Retail Polling Module (RPM) to run on the 4690 IBM environment to enable the polling of all the organization’s sales files 
  • AJB’s RPM allows this merchant to move critical data between head office, the POS system and RTS
  • As the customer proceeded with the new POS roll out using AJB’s Retail Transaction Switch, the customer was able to communicate with the old and new POS systems for polling and credit authorization
  • The customer was provided with the means of a seamless and speedy transition to the new POS due to AJB’s premium product suite
  • AJB worked directly with this merchant to understand their unique operating environment, including both hardware and software configuration and implemented a quality customized solution
